Merge Chart Window

Occasionally duplicate patient records will occur. The Merge Chart window allows you to merge two patient records together into one chart.

Notes:

  • Fields are color-coded to assist in viewing the information and knowing what information will be merged to the 'good' chart.
    • Gray fields indicate information that is the same between both charts.
    • Yellow fields indicate information that differs between the two records and will be merged in the 'good' chart.
    • Pink fields indicate information that differs between the two records and will be lost.
  • Any information from 3rd party integrations cannot be merged. This includes digital imaging, eRx and eLab.
Field Description
Chart

A text field that indicates the chart number of a duplicate (bad) chart that will be merged into the other (good) chart.

The ellipsis is used to display the Select Patient window and select a patient chart.
Status

A drop-down list that indicates the patient status code that the old patient will be assigned after the merge.

Note: Only statuses that mark the patient as inactive display in this list.

Chart

A text field that indicates the chart number of the (good) chart that the other (bad) chart is merged into.

The ellipsis is used to display the Select Patient window and select a patient chart.
Task Procedure
Merge Charts

  1. Enter the chart information for the 'good' and 'bad' charts.

  2. Review information displayed.

  3. If necessary use the Patient Info... and Select Patient buttons to confirm the correct charts are selected.

  4. Select the appropriate inactive status to assign to the bad chart after merge.

  5. (Optional) Click the Add Sticky Note... button to add a sticky note to the patient record indicating that two records have been merged.

  6. Click OK to merge the patient records.
  7. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the merge.
