Clinical Notification States Window

Clinical Notifications allow students to signal to a faculty member that they require assistance or approval without having to leave the operatory and their patient. Faculty can view the notifications via FacultyAccess or from the Operatory Monitor.

The notifications are color-coded and ranked with a severity to help faculty easily prioritize who should be seen first.

The Clinical Notification States window allows you to configure the Clinical Notification States, as well as access to them.

Field Description
State

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the clinical notification.
Inactive

A check box that, when selected, indicates the record is inactive and not in use.
Short Description A text field that describes the notification state.
Description A text field that describes the notification state.
Color A color bar that indicates the color to display for the clinical notification state.
Priority (affects list order in Operatory Monitor)

A drop-down list that indicates the priority of the clinical notification state:

  • Low: The state displays at the bottom of the list in the Operatory Monitor window.
  • Medium: The state displays in the middle of the list in the Operatory Monitor window.
  • High: The state displays at the top of the list in the Operatory Monitor window.
Display text color in Graphic mode based on Appointments' types

A check box that, when selected, indicates that the patient's status shows text color for the selected notification.

Note: If deselected, the default text color is black.

Tip: Use this option if text and notification colors are similar.

Notification is session-based (will not be shown beyond session)

A check box that, when selected, indicates that the notification state does not display in later sessions.

Example: If a provider asks for assistance in the morning session, the notification state does not show in the afternoon session.
Is an Approval request to Faculty

A check box that, when selected, indicates that the clinical notification state will be used to open the Approval Request window and request approval for items.

Tip: You can have multiple clinical notification states that open the Approval Request window.
Task Procedure
Add Clinical Notification States
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Clinical Notification States
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Specify Access to Clinical Notification States
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Clinical Notification State Access() icon to display the Clinical Notification State Access window.
  2. Configure access as required and close the window.
Delete Clinical Notification States
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Reorder Clinical Notification States
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Click the Up and Down buttons to move the selected entry within the list.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Clinical Notification Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Clinical Notification Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Clinical Notification Codes reports uses the CNState.rpt file.

Clinical Notification State Access Window

The Clinical Notification State Access window allows you to manage access to the selected clinical notification state. It displays when you open the Clinical Notification States window, select a listed state and click the Level Access () icon.

Field Description
Code

A disabled field that indicates the selected clinical notification state.
Level

A disabled field that indicates the selected user level(s).

Tip: You can select multiple levels to save time. If multiple are selected, a comma and ellipsis (, ...) display after the first level.

Access

A drop-down list that indicates access for the selected user level(s):

  • No
  • Yes
Task Procedure
Configure Clinical Notification State Access

  1. Select one or more user levels that should have the same access.

  2. Set the access fields as necessary and click the Modify Record () icon.

  3. Repeat the steps for all necessary user levels.
