Race Codes Window

The Race Codes window allows you to manage codes that indicate the race(s) that a patient identifies as.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the short code that identifies the race.
Inactive A check box that, when selected, indicates the field is inactive and not in use.
Description A text field that describes the race.
Category

A drop-down list that indicates how the race is classified:

  • Asian

  • Black or African American

  • Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander

  • American Indian or Alaska Native

  • White

  • Other

    • Note: This list is hard-coded and cannot be changed.

Task Procedure
Add Race Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Race Codes
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.

    Note: Once a race code is created, the Code cannot be modified.
Delete Race Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Race Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Race Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Race Codes report uses the race.rpt file.
