Patient Discount Groups Window

Patient discount groups are used to give specified patients a discount on treatment.

A discount group is tied to a discount template which specifies the procedures included in the discount and the amount of the discount.

If a patient is added to a discount group, the set discount percentage is applied to the full treatment amount. After the discount is applied, the system calculates any applicable insurance splits and the claim forms print the treatment charges at the adjusted amount.

Example: If the full treatment amount is $50.00, and the discount is 20%, the total amount becomes $40.00, before the insurance splits are calculated. The claim is then generated at $40.00.

The Patient Discount Groups window allows you to manage the list of available discount groups that can be applied to patients.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the discount group.
Inactive

A check box that, when selected, indicates that this discount group is inactive and is not available to be added to any other patients.

Important: Patients in this discount group will continue to receive the discount.

Description

A text field that describes the discount group.
Suspend for All

A check box that, when selected, indicates that this discount is suspended, and any patient's with this code on their account will no longer receive this discount.

If the check box is deselected, the discount is active will be applied going forward.
Round to the nearest dollar A check box that, when selected, indicates that when calculating the discount, axiUm should round the amount of the discount to the nearest dollar.
Task Procedure
Add Discount Groups
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Specify Discount Coverage
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Discount Coverages () icon to display the Patient Discount Coverage window.
  2. Make any necessary changes and close the window.
Edit Discount Groups
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.

    Note: Once a group is created, the Code cannot be modified.
Delete Discount Groups
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Patient Discount Groups report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Patient Discount Groups report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Patient Discount Groups report uses the discountGrp.rpt file.

Patient Discount Coverage Window

(Maintenance > Patient > Patient Discount Groups)

The Patient Discount Coverage window allows you to manage the list of procedures and their associated discount that apply to the selected patient discount group. It displays when you open the Patient Discount Groups window, select a listed code and click the Discount Coverages () icon.

Field Description
Discount Group / Description

Disabled fields that indicate the discount group that these coverage records apply to.
Item #

A text field that indicates numerically how to order the coverage items in the template.

Note: Once the coverage record is created, the Item # cannot be changed.

Name

A text field that describes the coverage.

Examples: Ortho coverage, All procedures.
From / To

Text fields that indicate the first and last procedures to represent the range of procedures that apply to this discount item.

The ellipses are used to display the Procedure Code List window and select procedure codes.

Discount % A text field that indicates numerically the discount amount for procedures in this template item.
Task Procedure
