Need Codes Window

Need codes are based on general types of treatment. Patients can be assigned need codes which identify the type of work they need to have done. Providers can make a needs request which will assign them to a patient that requires the same treatment that the provider needs to complete.

The Need Codes window allows you to manage the list of need codes.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the need.
Inactive A check box that, when selected, indicates the field is inactive and not in use.
Description

A text field that describes the need.
Task Procedure
Add Need Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Link Procedures to Need Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Need Codes Link () icon to display the Need Codes Link window.
  2. Make any necessary changes and close the window.
Edit Need Codes
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.

    Note: Once a code is created, the Code field cannot be modified.
Delete Need Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Need Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Need Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Need Codes report uses the NeedCode.rpt file.

Need Codes Link Window

The Need Codes Link window allows you to assign ranges of procedures that may be required to resolve the need code. It displays when you open the Need Codes window, select a listed need code and click the Need Codes Link () icon.

Field Description
Need Code

A disabled field that indicates the selected need code.
Procedure From / Procedure To

Text fields that indicate the first and last procedures to represent the range of procedures that fall under this need code.

The ellipses are used to display the Procedure Code List window and select procedure codes.

Task Procedure
Add Procedure Code Ranges
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Procedure Code Ranges
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Procedure Code Ranges
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
