Procedure Macro Codes Window

Procedure macro codes are groups of procedures that are typically performed together and are used to simplify data entry for providers, allowing them to chart multiple codes from different categories with a single click.

Example: During a recall appointment, you may typically perform an oral exam, take x-rays and do a prophylactic. You can set up a macro code to group together procedures D0120, D0272 and D1110, so they can be added together in one step.

The Procedure Macro Codes window allows you to create macro codes for use at your institution.

Important: Once the macro codes are created, you will need to add the macro to a quick list before it can be used.

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the code that identifies the procedure macro.
Description A text field that describes the procedure macro.
Macro has more than one site group (eg. for a bridge) A check box that, when selected, indicates that this macro requires more than one site to be specified.
Review Macro procedure codes at time of entry

A check box that, when selected, indicates that the Treatment Macro Edit window displays when the macro is selected and allows providers to add/modify/delete individual procedures in the macro.

When deselected, the check box indicates that changes cannot be made to the individual treatments while adding the macro.
Review treatment details at time of entry

A check box that, when selected, indicates that the Treatment Macro Processing window displays and allows users to modify the details of the individual procedure codes.

Example: Provider, Unit, Site, Surface, Custom Fields...

When deselected, the check box indicates that there is no pause between displaying the Treatment Macro Processing window, and the auto-add process begins immediately.
Task Procedure
Add Procedure Macro Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Procedure Macro Codes
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Specify Procedures for Macro Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Procedure Macro Definitions () icon to display the Procedure Macro Definitions window.
  2. Make any necessary changes and close the window.
Delete Procedure Macro Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Procedure Macro Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Procedure Macro Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Procedure Macro Codes report uses the procmacros.rpt file.

Procedure Macro Definitions Window

(Maintenance > Clinical > Procedure Macro Codes > icon)

The Procedure Macro Definitions window allows you to specify the procedure codes included in the selected macro. It displays when you open the Procedure Macro Codes window, select a listed code and click the Procedure Macro Definitions () icon.

Field Description
Macro / Name

Disabled fields that indicate the selected procedure macro code.
Item Type

A drop-down list that indicates the type of record being added:

  • Procedure
  • Quote Text (This option is available if you purchased the Express Mode of the Treatment Planning functionality. Selecting this option lets you define this macro as a quote form.)
Procedure

Note: This field is only enabled if Item Type is set to Procedure.

A text field that indicates the procedure code to include in the selected macro.

The ellipsis is used to display the Procedure Codes List window and select a procedure code.
Site Based / Site Group / Description

Disabled fields that display information about the selected Procedure.

Note: This field is only enabled if Item Type is set to Procedure.
Quantity

Note: This field is enabled if Item Type is set to Procedure.

A text field that indicates the number of the selected procedure to add for the selected macro.
Multiply by number of sites selected at time of entry

Note: This field is enabled if Item Type is set to Procedure.

A check box that, when selected, indicates that when multiple sites are selected when the macro is added, the procedure code will be created for each site.
Text

Note: This field is enabled if Item Type is set to Quote Text.

A text field that indicates the text to display for this record.

The ellipsis is used to display the Treatment Plan Text Codes window and select predefined blocks of text.
Task Procedure
Add Procedures to Macro
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Procedures in Macro
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Reorder Procedures in Macro
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Click the Up and Down buttons to move the selected entry within the list.
Delete Procedures in Macro
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.

  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.

    3. Note: Deleting a procedure only removes it from the current macro code.
