Clinical Symbol Codes Window

Clinical symbols codes are images that will be drawn beside a tooth in the Dental Chart and/or Perio Chart to indicate a condition that applies to the specific tooth site. These images are stored in the axiUm database as a binary objects so the symbol used is the same for all workstations.

The Clinical Symbol Codeswindow allows you to manage the clinical symbols used at your institution.

The image file for clinical symbol codes must have the following attributes:

  • File Type: The file is saved as a bitmap (.BMP) image file.

  • Width: 11 pixels

  • Height: 12 pixels

  • Horizontal Resolution: 96 DPI (dots/pixels per inch)

  • Vertical Resolution: 96 DPI

  • Bit Depth (Color): 4 bits

  • Frame Count: 1

Field Description
Code

A text field that indicates the unique code that identifies the symbol.
Description

A text field that describes the clinical symbol.

FileName

A text field that indicates the path to the image file and displays a preview of the symbol.

The ellipsis is used to navigate to the file and save it to the database within the symbol code record.

Mirror on opposite quadrant

A checkbox that, when selected, indicates that the image will mirror the symbol on the opposite quadrant of the tooth in the chart.

The image is mirrored on the vertical axis.
Mirror on lower arch

A checkbox that, when selected, indicates that the image will point in the opposite direction when placed on a site on the lower arch in the chart.
Display in Dental chart A checkbox that, when selected, indicates that the image displays in the (EHR) dental chart.
Display in Perio chart A checkbox that, when selected, indicates that the image displays in the perio chart.
Task Procedure
Add Clinical Symbol Codes
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Clinical Symbol Codes
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Edit the fields as necessary and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Clinical Symbol Codes
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview/Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Clinical Symbol Codes report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Clinical Symbol Codes report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Clinical Symbol Codes report uses the clinsym.rpt file.
